In the world of creativity and content creation, we often feel the pressure to constantly generate new material. Fresh, innovative ideas undoubtedly capture attention, but what if I told you that repurposing existing content could be just as effective, if not more so? Sometimes, all it takes is a new perspective to make old content feel brand new.
We assume that our audience sees everything we put out there, but in reality, only a small fraction about 2% to 10% of our followers actually do. And for those who do see it, they often forget or are delighted to be reminded of your work again! A Personal Experience on Repurposing At a recent leadership summit in Toronto, I encountered a situation that perfectly illustrated this point. We were given cards and asked to write 4 fascinating things about ourselves so that others could guess who we were. I hesitated. All my fascinating stories were in my book "Free Spirit", and I didn't want to repeat myself. When I expressed my dilemma to a colleague, she asked, "How many people here do you think have read your book?" "Probably just one," I admitted. She then suggested, "Why not mention something you have in common with someone else?" I followed her advice, and no one guessed it was me. I was thrilled with the result. This experience reminded me that repurposing our stories and content isn't just about repeating ourselves—it's about presenting them in new and engaging ways. Three Easy Ways to Repurpose Your Content
The Bottom Line Repurposing your content doesn't have to be complicated. By putting a new spin on your existing material, you remind your audience that you are there and ready to help with what they need. Creativity isn't always about creating something new from scratch; it's about seeing the potential in what you already have and making it shine in a different light. So, the next time you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed by the need to produce new content, remember these tips. Repurpose, reframe, and rediscover the value in your existing work. You'll be amazed at how effectively you can engage your audience with a little ingenuity and a fresh perspective. If you need help reach out anytime!
